Here’s an inquiry from Lori:

Hi, I am considering buying a painting labelled as a Clara Harris work and the seller is not sure if it is authentic. I see she painted in western Canada but can’t find any paintings of mountains on line.

Would you be able to help me? I would like to own a piece or two by Clara as I love her work.

And here’s my answer:

Lori, thanks for contacting me.  You're right.  Clara did paint on the west coast and the birch trees in the foreground are characteristic of much of her work.  Can you get a clearer photograph from the seller?  Also, photos of the back of the painting, dimensions, is it oil? Is it painted on canvas? I need a clearer photo of the signature. How did you and the seller make contact?

Any information is helpful.

Lori hasn’t responded yet. In the meantime, readers, what do you think?
